Sacramento News and Review has teamed up with local artists to convert their newspaper boxes into art.  I did one of these a couple of years ago, now students from the Short Center North; an art center for adults with disabilities is creating new works of art, which hopefully will be the start of many more to come.

Skinner @111 Minna

02 Jul 2009 | no comments »

I know this is John Stuart Berger. com and most of my posts revolve around my over inflated ego and to showcase my artwork. Occasionally I stumble upon something art related that I have to showcase, in the past I have posted entries about Short Center North, Irving Norman, Sylvia Ji, Dave Cooper, David Best, Kris Kukzi etc. This time I want to blog about the Skinner show that is currently at 111 Minna in San Francisco, and will be there for the remainder of June.  I have known Skinner for a while; I’ve shown with him, done installations with him and watched him develop into a really great artist.  When I went to see Skinner’s show I new it would be a cool  experience and I knew it would be a great show, but I was totally blown away!!!  I have seen several good shows at 111 Minna but Skinner’s show totally dominated that space, he was one of the few artists to fill the whole space with great art and an installation.  There was also sculpture animation and Skinner’s band Iguanadon, I think it will be a while before anyone pulls off a show of this magnitude at Minna.  If your familiar with Skinner’s work you owe it to yourself to check this show out while you still can.
